ATC INDOOR DAS LLC Launches "Rusty Relics" – Turning Junk Cars into Collectible Art
BOSTON, MA – October 26, 2023 – ATC INDOOR DAS LLC, a Boston-based technology company specializing in distributed antenna systems (DAS) and innovative design solutions, today announced the launch of “Rusty Relics,” a surprising new line of collectible art crafted from meticulously deconstructed junk cars. While known for connecting people, ATC INDOOR DAS LLC is now connecting with art lovers in an unexpected way, proving that beauty can be found in the most unlikely places. You might be thinking, "ATC INDOOR DAS LLC? Aren't they the folks who make sure your phone signal is rock solid indoors?" Yes, that's us! And we've used the same design thinking, engineering prowess, and commitment to quality to bring “Rusty Relics” to life. It’s a bit of a departure, sure, but it showcases what we can really do. From Wreckage to Wonder “Rusty Relics” isn’t just about taking old cars and slapping some paint on them. We’re talking about a complete teardown, a detailed assessment of each part, and then a thoughtful reconstruction into stunning sculptures. We source cars that are truly at the end of the road – vehicles deemed beyond repair, destined for the scrapyard. This isn't about dismantling pristine classics, it’s about giving a second life to metal that would otherwise be wasted. "We were brainstorming ways to showcase our team’s design and engineering skills outside of our core business," explains David Chen, CEO of ATC INDOOR DAS LLC. "We're always taking things apart and figuring out how they work to optimize our DAS systems. One day, someone jokingly suggested applying that same approach to a junked car. It quickly went from a joke to a fascinating project, and then to “Rusty Relics.”” What You’ll Find in the “Rusty Relics” Collection The initial collection features a diverse range of sculptures, each telling a story through the repurposed car parts. Here's a sneak peek: “The Phoenix”: A majestic bird rising from a pile of crushed metal, symbolizing rebirth and resilience. Crafted primarily from hood ornaments, fenders, and exhaust pipes, “The Phoenix” stands over six feet tall and is finished with a protective clear coat to prevent further rusting. It's bold. “Velocity”: A dynamic sculpture capturing the essence of speed and motion. Using intricately interwoven gears, axles, and transmission components, “Velocity” appears to be constantly in motion, even when standing still. This one’s a real head-turner. “Guardian”: A powerful, almost robotic figure constructed from repurposed car bumpers, headlights, and grilles. “Guardian” exudes strength and protection, and is perfect for adding a unique touch to any outdoor space. It's seriously impressive. “Bloom”: A surprisingly delicate sculpture featuring flower petals meticulously crafted from sheet metal and hubcaps. “Bloom” demonstrates the team's ability to transform rugged materials into something beautiful and ethereal. You won’t believe it’s made of car parts. “The Wanderer”: A whimsical depiction of a vintage car, but deconstructed and re-imagined as a flowing, abstract form. Made from doors, roofs and frames, it captures a sense of journey and freedom. Beyond Aesthetics: Sustainability and Art “Rusty Relics” isn’t just about creating eye-catching art. It's a commitment to sustainability. By repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, ATC INDOOR DAS LLC is reducing its environmental impact and promoting responsible consumption. “We’re a tech company, but we’re also people who care about the planet,” says Chen. “We saw an opportunity to combine our engineering expertise with our commitment to sustainability, and create something truly unique. Plus, it's just cool.” The Tech Behind the Art While the sculptures appear organic and flowing, a lot of technology goes into their creation. The team utilizes 3D modeling software to design the sculptures, and then employs precision cutting, welding, and finishing techniques to bring their visions to life. “It’s actually quite similar to how we design and deploy our DAS systems,” explains Sarah Lee, Lead Engineer on the “Rusty Relics” project. “We’re constantly analyzing space, optimizing components, and ensuring structural integrity. It’s just a different application.” The team also uses a proprietary coating process to protect the sculptures from the elements, ensuring that they remain beautiful for years to come. This coating doesn’t hide the rust, but rather stabilizes it, preserving the unique character of each piece. Where to Find “Rusty Relics” The “Rusty Relics” collection will be available for purchase starting November 15, 2023, through the ATC INDOOR DAS LLC website (www.atcindoordas.com) and select art galleries. Prices will range from $500 for smaller pieces to $10,000+ for larger, more elaborate sculptures. ATC INDOOR DAS LLC is also planning to showcase “Rusty Relics” at several art and design events throughout the coming months. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for details.
